I lead small groups in Africa and Asia, four to eight photographers. Most of the photography happens at dawn and in the last hours of light, because that is when it is worth doing, and the middle of the day is usually for driving and resting.
In every place I set up a few scenes so that everybody has something to work with, and then encourage you to find your own. Some sessions are arranged and some are not, and I will always tell you which is which. If something happens that was not in the plan, a ceremony we hear about the night before, a market worth two hours instead of twenty minutes, light doing something unexpected on a transfer day, we stop.
The programme is mixed. People are the subject, but we go to the parks too, and we stop for a landscape when it is worth stopping.
Groups are mixed and so is the help. If you want to work through exposure, or how to handle the light inside a hut, we will. If you have thirty years of your own and simply want to be somewhere worth pointing a camera, that works too.
